The guest appearance of conductor Gustavo Dudamel and the Simón Bolívar Youth Orchestra of Venezuela on 27 August 2007 was the highlight of the Beethoven Festival 2007 in Bonn. The concert itself and the dress rehearsal were recorded using ten high-definition cameras for the film „The Promise of Music”. As the concert in the Beethovenhalle had been sold out early on, both Deutsche Welle and the Beethoven Festival decided to arrange an outside broadcast to the market square in Bonn, where about 2,000 enthusiastic fans of classical music enjoyed the fascinating concert on a screen 22 metres square. At the end of the evening, Gustavo Dudamel and his orchestra received a standing ovation, both in the concert hall and on the market square.
